2. Google Apps Script
For a more powerful, fully customizable setup, Google Apps Script is the go-to. It's Google's built-in scripting platform, and it can talk directly to Forms, Sheets, and other Google services.
How it works:
- Open Apps Script from Google Drive or directly inside a Form.
- Write a script that pulls your dataset (often from a connected Google Sheet) and submits it to the form.
- Run the script to populate and submit the form automatically, for one respondent or thousands.
Example:
function autoFillGoogleForm() {
var formUrl = "YOUR_FORM_URL";
var formData = {
"entry.123456": "John Doe",
"entry.789101": "johndoe@example.com"
};
var options = {
"method": "post",
"payload": formData
};
UrlFetchApp.fetch(formUrl, options);
}
Pros: Full control, handles bulk submissions easily, integrates natively with Sheets.
Cons: You'll need at least basic JavaScript knowledge to write and troubleshoot the script.
This is the method to reach for when you're generating a batch of pre-filled links, say, sending a personalized feedback form to every customer who closed an order last week, each with their own name and order number baked in.
